OUR PROTOTYPING PROCESS

At Form & Void Studios, our process is a collaborative endeavor from the initial concepting phase to the execution of the final result which begins and ends with you. It starts with a consultation with a member of our design team to define your goals and followed by an internal development protocol which combines 2D design, 3D capabilities, and a creative strategy to implement them into a comprehensive solution that works with your timeline and bottom line. Finally, we present a completed concept for your approval, after which it finishes the journey from imagination to innovation by arriving at your front door.

STEP 1: CONSULTATION

We begin by offering a free consultation to discuss your ideas and goals with our designer to determine a strategy for the design and development processes. During this step, we explore the scope of deliverables based on the needs and scale of your project.

STEP 2: STRATEGY PLANNING

Our designer then communicates your goals and needs to our internal team to coordinate design, engineering, and manufacturing services. During this step, we determine a timetable for your project's production schedule and create an estimate based on the required deliverables. If your project requires the full support of our studio, we will create a calendar with projections of the phases leading up to your rollout.

STEP 3: ESTIMATE & CONFIRMATION

Once a strategy has been developed for your project, our designer will contact you to discuss the approach that the studio plans to take for your project. During this step, we give you an in-depth rundown of the entire process from concept to prototype, including the agreed upon deliverables, expected timeline(s), and a cost breakdown. Pending your approval and confirmation that this plan aligns with your goals and budget, we begin work on your project.

STEP 4: DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

The studio executes the deliverables outlined within the statement of work concerning your project, checking in with you along the way to major milestones. Once the initial prototype is finished, our designer works with a secure and completely confidential focus group to gather user data, insights, and analytics which inform design changes between iterations and revisions. Once we have applied relevant changes, our designer will reach out once again.

STEP 5: FEEDBACK & PRESENTATION

Our designer will present you with a physical prototype that has been developed based on a combination of client input and testing feedback and confirm that the relevant deliverables have been satisfied. Pending your final approval, we prepare your prototype for shipment to your residence or business.

STEP 6: FINAL PROTOTYPE DELIVERY

Provided no additional revisions are required and you are satisfied with your product, we ship it to your front door. If your project has additional deliverables beyond the delivery of your prototype, we execute them according to the production schedule. At this point, additional considerations such as the creation of patent documentation, packaging design, and brand identity development can begin.
